"Simply the Best... featuring a constantly changing inventory - from the classics to the unexpected..."
Pebble Beach The Magazine
Carpe Diem Fine Books was recently given the chance to add a gallery, expanding our shop by 33%, and we, well, seized the opportunity! Pictured above, we hope you will agree that it is a handsome addition...
On Saturday, May 18, we welcomed author Nelda Hirsh as she signed copies of her new biography A Bohemian Life: M. Evelyn McCormick (1862-1948), American Impressionist.
It was a lovely afternoon, and Nelda was kept busy for several hours talking about Ms. McCormick and personalizing the book for a steady stream of lucky customers.
"The entire shop, in an old building close to the Robert Louis Stevenson house, is a bibliophile's delight..."

Located in a charming 1930's Carmel-stone building in historic downtown Monterey, since 1995 Carpe Diem Fine Books has offered a discriminating selection of out-of-print, and out of the ordinary books in all fields - with a special emphasis on the history and literature of California and the West. More than a bookshop, we also feature art and collectibles of the Monterey area.
We are open 12:00 to 6:00 pm Tuesday through Saturday and can generally arrange to be here at other times if it is more convenient for you, so be sure to visit the next time you are in the area.
