Lackeys of the Moon, A Play in One Act

New York: Edmond Byrne Hackett, Brick Row Book Shop, 1923. First Edition. Small 8vo. 47 pp. 15 full page and 17 small color watercolor and gouache drawings, SIGNED, by Frances Paelian. The cover has a painted cut-out of an elaborately turbaned woman with applied metal earrings and necklace above a collar made from a slice of watermelon. Paintings also appear on pastedowns and blanks with smaller drawings interspersed throughout the text. The date 'August 10, 1940' is written in pencil at the bottom of the last page, perhaps indicating the date these drawings were executed. A unique and highly decorative art book. The orignal black boards have been painted pink as background for the dramatic painting on the front cover. Item #17461
