Accompanied by 13pp pamphlet (in English with some Chinese characters) titled "Chinese Pagodas", laid in as issued. Detailed index printed on pastedowns. Publisher's red cloth with gilt pagoda and lettering on front cover. Although 18 copies are located in OCLC, no copies have come to auction in the past 30 years and no copies available on the market; scarce thus. A near fine copy. Item #18762

A detailed study of Chinese pagodas showing photographs of 85 detailed wooden models of extant pagodas located throughout China, executed to 1/50 of natural size, created by teenage boys and young men instructed in woodworking at Shanghai's Tushanwan orphanage. The pamphlet was read before the Royal Asiatic Society, N.C.B., in Shanghai, on May 13, 1915.
