In this chatty 2-page letter, Fonda confesses ‘I have been haunted by guilt that I was never able to find the time to work with you on the glider – but I really had been looking forward to it – Please don’t give up on me though I won’t blame you if you start without me –‘ He invites Stewart to join him for dinner in New York and gossips about their old friend Josh Logan (‘who’s in great shape’) and Jack Lemmon (he’s stupendous! Incredible! You mustn’t miss it –‘) before closing urging Stewart to ‘try to stretch (your visit) if you can –‘Two Hollywood legends and life-long friends - at ease.
