This guide to the exotic flowering trees, shrubs, and vines of Mexico contains handcolored illustrations, descriptions, and an index in Latin, Spanish, English, and local Indian dialects. Alfred and Clarice Hamill of Lake Forest were frequent visitors to Mexico, knowing the land and its culture well. Suzette Morton Hamill was their daughter-in-law, and proprietress of the Pocahontas Press, a notable Chicago-area private press of the day. Mrs. Hamill painstakingly hand-painted the jewel-like illustrations in each copy and one recipient recalls waiting almost a year for her to get around to finishing his copy. Item #19 of the One Hundred Rare and Notable Books, a selection prepared in honor of the 2004 renovation and expansion of the Donnelley and Lee Library of Lake Forest College in Illinois. All domestic orders are fully trackable - Images available upon request.
