Eggan (1906 - 1991) was universally recognized as one of the great anthropologists of the 20th century. In the summer of 1932, Eggan was selected for a Laboratory of Anthropology fellowship in Santa Fe, NM for field training in ethnology and spent the summer among the Hopi, during which he revolutionized the current understanding of their social organization. The Hopi research led him to a Ph.D. dissertation on the social organization of the Western Pueblos (Hopi, Zuni, Acoma, and Laguna). Among his writings are Social Organization of the Western Pueblos (1950) and The American Indian (1966). Next day shipping.
