N.p. Privately Printed, 1996. First Edition. INSCRIBED & dated with birthday wishes to San Francisco's bon vivant and hotel magnate, Newton A. Cope by the creator of Dennis the Menace. Ketcham's original color drawing of Cope smoking a cigar, a bottle of wine labeled 'Chateau Cope 1922' and a rocking chair with the saying "Look...all I want is/a glass of red wine/and a place/to sit down./If you'd/care to/join me.../grab a/chair./Birthday Greetings/Dear Newty - Roland and Hank." Dated 4-28-96. The watercolor art work measures 8 1/2 x 11 1/2". Included with the art work is the 4-page program for Ketcham's memorial service illustrated with Dennis the Menace cartoons along with a one page biography. Fine condition. Item #16440

Newton Cope, a San Francisco social figure and bon vivant, was the chairman of the board of a privately held firm that owned the Huntington Hotel and several other properties on Nob Hill as well as the La Playa Hotel and Cottages by the Sea in Carmel.
