Quarter-bound white cloth spine over marbled paper boards; dark brown gilt-stamped title label. The author, Archduke of Austria and son of Leopold II, last Grand Duke of Tuscany, visited Los Angeles in the winter of 1876. During his time, he interviewed its principal citizens and studied the Spanish and English histories of California. (Cowan pg. 550; Howes S57).
