Uncommon and moving memorial book in honor of Carter V. Cooper (1965-1988) who committed suicide in 1988. The book includes photographs taken of Mr. Cooper and his family as well as photographs from his childhood. The book also features eulogies delivered in honor of Mr. Cooper at St. James Episcopal Church in New York City on July 26, 1988. The eulogies were offered by Mr. Cooper's brother, Anderson H. Cooper; and friends James Stewart, Matthew Bardin, and Fernanda Eberstadt. The book also reprints selected condolence letters and poems written to Mr. Carter's mother, Gloria Vanderbilt Cooper. One of the letters is written by Gordon Parks. Mr. Parks references a poem written by Carter Cooper, "Sonnenkinder", and this poem is reprinted in the book as well.
