The first exhibition of the Alameda County Society of Architects, was held October 2-10, 1916 in the Oakland Municipal Auditorium. This scarce (copies found only in UC Berkeley's Bancroft Library and the California Historical Society) yearbook chronicles the exhibition, and reproduces works by a veritable Who's Who of Bay Area architects of the time, including C.W. Dickey, John Galen Howard, Julia Morgan, Willis Polk, J.J. Donovan and Lewis P. Hobart. The book features a frontispiece, 'Cathedral in the Forest,' by newly elected member of the SF Chapter of AIA (and later famed space artist) Chesley K. Bonestell. Laid in is an unused 'C.W. Dickey, Architect' time record; handsome bookplate of architect William Dickey Merrill (nephew of C.W. Dickey) to front pastedown. (Rocq 75).
