A companion volume to Mr. Harlow's "Maps and Surveys of the Pueblo Lands of Los Angeles" and to W.W. Robinson's "Maps of San Francisco Bay." Of the thirty-nine maps included, 29 maps are of the San Francisco Bay, and 10 maps are of the Town of San Francisco. The two-fold purpose of this volume is to establish clearly each map's identity and to define its position in relation to its historical background. (Grabhorn 501).
