MLTW: Houses By MLTW. Moore, Lyndon, Turnbull & Whitaker Vol. One, 1959-1975

Tokyo: A.D.A. Edita, 1975. First Edition. 8vo. 221, (2) pp. Text in English and Japanese. Text by Donlyn Lyndon; edited and photographed by Yukio Futagawa. Photo-reproductions (some in color); house plans. Tan cloth in color printed dustjacket. A fine copy. Item #19101

The definitive monograph on the works of the architectural firm, MLTW, which was established in Berkeley, California by Charles Moore, Donlyn Lyndon, Richard Whitaker, and William Turnbull. The firm rejected modernist boxes in favor of wooden buildings that were relaxed, almost funky, combining a sense of tradition with abstraction. Sea Ranch soon became the inspiration not only for a new California style of building, but also for hundreds of ski and beach houses on the East Coast.
