William J. Stack, a graduate of Santa Cruz High School and Stanford University, acted in Shakespeare plays in London for 15 years. In 1929, he played in "The Queen Was in the Parlor" with Pauline Fredericks. Stack also play in "The Marquise" starring Billie Burke. In this collection of poems, his "first effort", he writes of the nature, seasons and beauties of Santa Cruz, California.
