Peter Bishop founded The Petrarch Press in 1985 with the goal of publishing important classical literature in fine, hand-printed editions produced to the very highest standards. He retired from printing about ten years later and it is now uncommon to find publications of The Petrarch Press from the Peter Bishop era.
