[2], 187-273 pp. Extra-illustrated with 10 original watercolors including frontispiece of Romeo by the artist 'PAL', elaborate full-page floral & love-birds motif title-page for the play, 2 pages of decorative illustrations, and 6 watercolors of Romeo, Juliet and various characters; as well as 104 plates (43 in color), with tissue guards. Bound in full brown morocco Cosway-style binding with a charming hand painted portrait of Juliet (under glass) by A. Whittemore inside front cover. Alice Vaud Whittemore (1868-1911), was a painter in Paris when she married William John Whittemore, a fellow miniature portrait painter.
