William F. Hopson and His Bookplates (INSCRIBED to Bernhardt Wall)

Washington DC: Privately printed, 1929. First Large Paper Edition, Limited to 100 numbered copies SIGNED by the author and artist, this being No. 68. Additionally INSCRIBED "To Bernhardt Wall/with the regard & admiration of W. F. Hopson, Oct. 1929". Folio. 23 pp. Mounted frontispiece portrait of Hopson; 5 engraved plates. From the library of Clare Ryan Talbott, noted collector, appraiser, dealer, writer, and historian of bookplates, with occasional manuscript pencil notes. Affixed inside front cover is Bernhardt Wall's engraved bookplate. Laid in is an Errata in Hopson's handwriting, noting corrections to the 1928 Year Book where this first appeared. A note in the book references an ALS from Hopson to Wall but alas it is not present. Publisher's cream paper covered spine over decorative paper covered boards with cream printed title label affixed to front cover; cream title label to spine. A very good copy (tanning to spine; wear to extremities); still a nice copy with a unique association between two respected artists. Item #20081
