Privately Printed, 1938. First Edition, Limited to 500 copies, this being No. 448. 4to. [16] pp (on double leaves, untrimmed). Designed and set in Hammer Unciale type by the author. Beautifully illustrated throughout by E. C. Line. Printed in 29 colors and gold initials on Roma paper made by hand in the same method and with the same texture since the 13th century by Pietro Milani, Fabriano, Italy. Foreword by Dr. Roelif H. Brooks. Bound in red silk moire with gilt lettering in publisher's clear plastic dustjacket with "Sesons Greetings, Melise and Milton Biow" printed in gilt in lower front corner; housed in cream paper covered clamshell box. The book and dustjacket are in fine condition; the box is starting to split at the ends. Item #20206
Milton Biow, founder of the former Biow Company, long one of the country's largest advertising agencies, was recognized as an originator of the modern school of advertising. Many of the leading advertising men of today trained under him. Kurt Volk (1884 – 1962), originally from Germany, worked in Philadelphia and New York as a typographer in the late 1920s. Volk was known for a series of art keepsakes and limited edition books distributed to friends at Christmas.
