Original full tan sheepskin, front cover printed and ruled; red title label to spine, splitting black compilor label laid in. Poor condition (front board detached with half of spine missing, boards worn with text block loose but barely holding, 'F.179' to ffep. Tipped to the ffep is a printed notice dated July 9, 1888 sealed and signed 'E.H. McGee/Clerk' certifying that this book was 'published by the authority of the Board of Trustees of the City of Sacramento.' McGee's occasional marginal notes. '... Including provisions of the Constitution and codes relative to municipal corporations, and an appendix containing a list of the officers of the city government from 1849 to 1881, inclusive.'. Contains all 175 ordinances passed through August 22, 1881. City Auditor (and Clerk of the Board of Trustees) Ed. H. McGee's copy, with 'City Auditor's Office' to front board and 'E.H. Mcgee/City Auditor/Sacramento/Cal/From 1877 to 1891' to front pastedown in pencil. The first 21 blank leaves are filled with newspaper clippings of the publishing of Ordinances No. 176 (Feb. 8, 1882) through No. 269 (March 23, 1891), the first ordinance passed following McGee's retirement.
