Ansel Adams arrived on Oahu by Matson ocean liner in 1948 on a commercial art assignement with Bishop National Bank of Hawaii. In this work, he photographs in black & white and in color the stark beauty of the Hawaiian Islands. The subjects of Adams’ photos range from Waimea Canyon on Kauai; petroglyphs on the west coast of Hawaii; herding cattle on the Parker Ranch; Na Pali coastline; rain forests, ferns & fishponds; lava flow and rocks and so much more of Island beauties.
