Ned Christie was a leader in the Cherokee Nation in 1887 and was known as a peaceable man. Then he was accused of killing a U.S. deputy marshal, although claiming his innocence. Thus began several years of accusations, violence, which ultimately led his death by the deputy marshals. Eventually the truth came out that he was innocent of the killing.
