Columbia Theatre: San Francisco Devoted to the Leading Dramatic and Musical Attractions

San Francisco: Morton L. Cook Co., ca. 1913 - 1915. 8vo. [16] pp. Business advertisements. Color illustrated staplebound wrappers in near fine condition (previous owner name on front cover; faint foldline down center of wrappers). Item #21317

The Columbia Theatre opened in 1895 with Jake Gottlob and Mr. Friedlander as managers. Later Melville Marx was added and Friedlander left; the theatre appears to have ceased operation during the 1929 season. This theatre program is for the exclusive engagement for four weeks of "Actual Scenes of the Balkan War" followed by a Kinemacolor film "Japanese Army War Maneuvers" and ending with "The Making of the Panama Canal" in natural color motion photography. The program indicates that Henry J. Brock, President of the Kinemacolor Company of America was present and giving a "Travel-Talk" to accompany the program. Brock became President of the company in late 1912 which ceased production in 1915. Most of the advertisements are for businesses around the San Francisco area, a handful going further afield such as Santa Cruz, Sacrament and Fresno.
