'Dr. Geisel' Place Card with Presidential Seal
[Los Angeles?]. 'Dr. Geisel' Place Card; verso is SIGNED 'T.S. Geisel' below which he has printed his address in La Jolla. Elegant 2 1/4" x 3 3/4" beveled card stock, embossed with the Presidential seal; bearing two old staples, else in fine condition. On September 3, 1970 President Richard Nixon hosted a state dinner at Hotel del Coronado. Among the attendees were former President and Mrs. Lyndon Johnson, California Governor and Mrs. Ronald Reagan, Frank Sinatra and John Wayne, along with Dr. and Mrs. Theodor Geisel. Accompanied by an 8 1/2" x 11" signed carbon copy of a September 8, 1970 letter (with manuscript pencil notes) from Jane O'Brien Dart to Dr. Geisel. Mrs. Dart had met the Geisels at the state dinner and she followed up by sending them the catalogue (not present) for the 1970 exhibition of The Proctor Stafford Collection of Sculpture of Ancient West Mexico at LACMA. Jane and Justin Dart were longtime influential California Republicans and key members of President Reagan's 'Kitchen Cabinet.'. Item #21509
