[New York]: Type Directors Club of New York, 1950. First Edition. Publisher's blue folder containing: 1) SIGNED original wood engraving by Bernard Brussel-Smith printed by L. F. White Co. and distributed at a dinner for the friends and members of the Type Directors Club of New York given in Warde's honor on April 28, 1950. The engraving of Warde is printed on 11 3/4 x 17 1/2" Basingwerk Parchment wove paper (folded to 11 3/4" x 8 3/4") title 'Beatrice L. Warde' in red and SIGNED in pencil by Brussel-Smith. 2) Broadside titled “Paul Beaujon disguised as B. Warde/To Beatrice” commemorating her visit to New York City. The two-color broadside is 8 1/2" x 11" on ivory laid paper and bears a poem composed by Albert Schiller, who created the accompnaying type figure in her honor. The folder is somewhat browned at edges and worn as is the 3 3/4" x 4 1/2" calligraphed label in red and black. The folder bears the printed label 'From the 'Frederic Melcher 'Library of Books about Books.' Melcher, who proposed both the Newbery and Caldecott Medals, was once described as "the greatest all-round bookman in the English-speaking world." Item #21599
