Boston: Phipps-Ball-Burnham Co., 1920-23. 5 1/2" x 7 7/8" black album; 17 black cardstock leaves; Walter A. Frankel bookplate to front pastedown. A typed title page is tipped to the first leaf followed by 12 leafs, each bearing a mounted photograph (2" x 2") of the printer's mark on a 3 1/2" x 6" ivory card, with printed text below, recto only. The final two leafs present hand drawn in pencil the printer's mark with the typed text below. The marks are of fourteen distinguished printers of the 15th and 16th centuries. A rather unique booklet most likely given to the homeowner; we find no other copies. Item #22327

Printers included include Plantin, Aldus, Elzevir, Vantrollier; Jaggard; Pfortzheim; Henricpetri; Anshelm; Caxton; Giunta; Simon DeColines; Lecoq; Etienne Dolet; and Andrea Torresano. The marks were reproduced in leaded glass for the library of E.H. Carroll of West Boyleston, Massachusetts.
