Laid in is a printed card on which the author has written 'To Ruth and Dick' (With the Compliments of the Author) 'who loves you - Teuila' Isobel Field was Stevenson's step-daughter and lived with her mother and Stevenson in Samoa, becoming the author’s secretary for the last four years of his life. The Samoans named her “Teuila,” which means one who can bring beauty out of ugliness. Item #22373
