'Ex Musicis Matilie Montsalvatge' Bookplate
A mounted and handsomely framed (12 3/4" x 16") etched bookplate (image 4" x 6") featuring a violinist Rehn (1884-1951) trained as a porcelain painter in Meissen, Germany. He then studied until 1910 at the School of Arts and Crafts and at the Academy of Arts in Dresden... He then worked as a freelance graphic artist in Dresden, until 1930 mainly as a book illustrator and bookplate artist'... and was a member of the Dresden Artists' Association. He had his first extensive representation of graphics and drawings in 1912... in 1940, 1942 and 1943, Rehn was represented at the Great German Art Exhibition... Of his eight paintings exhibited there, six were acquired by Hitler and Martin Bormann.' (wiki). Item #22389
