Original orange ribbon, fading to upper cover, else a Near Fine, complete copy. A rare publication with no copies located in institutions or the trade. Item #22856

The 'Art Annual' for 1905: sections include 4-page 'Lake Maxinkuckee, Summer Resort' (a salute to Mrs H. H. Culver - Culver, founder of Culver Military Academy in 1894, had died in1897 - followed by a description of the Culver estate on Lake Maxinkuckee); 1-page James Whitcomb Riley's poem, 'Lake Maxinkuckee;' 5-page 'Culver Military Academy' description with images of the Academy ('In this "West Point" of the west is one of the large riding halls of the world... the largest and most complete building of its kind in America... there are 21 instructors... The Cadet Corps is made up of 300 members..." accompaniued by a photo of the Black Horse troop at William McKinley's inaugural; an 8-page description of the town of 'Culver, Indiana;' a 6-page description of the 'Lake Maxinkuckee Chatauqua Assembly' and its drama and musical programs. Throughout are images of the key people, scenes and events. Published just ten years after the establishment of Culver Military Academy and in the same year as Daniel McDonald's 'History of Lake Maxinkuckee.'.
