This map is part of a series representing the principal islands of Hawaii, including Kauai, Oahu, Maui, and Hawaii. Ruth Taylor White (1896–1985) was an American cartographer, illustrator, and author, renowned for her whimsical pictorial maps, or “cartographs,” that captured the cultural and economic essence of various regions with vibrant, humorous illustrations. Her sister was Della Taylor Hoss, a noted artist known for paintings of Bristlecone Pines. trees of Yosemite and more. Her cartographic maps include several Hawaiian Islands, several California areas, major Philippine Islands, the USA and others.
