Full-page heartfelt inscription by Artie Mason Carter (1881 - 1967), a key figure in early 20th-century American music and community arts, best known for her foundational role in creating what became the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles. In the early 1920s, she expanded a local community singing group and helped organize large outdoor musical performances at a natural amphitheater site. As secretary of the Community Park and Art Association, she was instrumental in programming early concerts and bringing the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra together with community musicians. She helped establish the venue as a space for democratic, affordable music under the stars, shaping its mission in its formative years. 8vo. 203 pp. Photo-illustrated plates; drawings. One of the photo-illustrated plates is of Artie Mason Carter with title "...master-vuilder and arch-dreamer of Hollywood Bowl." Designed and with a Foreword by Merle Armitage.
