Hermann H. Heiser was a German-born saddle and leather craftsman who became one of the best-known makers of Western saddlery and gun leather in the American West. He moved to Denver around 1859 during the Colorado gold rush era and built the famous “House of Heiser.” Heiser products included saddles, holsters, cartridge belts, harnesses, chaps, and other leather goods. Heiser saddles and leatherwork were associated with cowboys, the Pony Express era, and later Hollywood Western culture. After Hermann Heiser died in 1904, his sons continued the business until it was sold to Denver Dry Goods in 1945 and later absorbed by Keyston Bros. in the 1950s.
