This edition is a revised translation of an earlier edition published by Martin Lawrence, London, in 1933, and corresponds to the Russian edition of the Marx-Engels-Lenin Institute, Moscow, 1932. Marx's classic critique of the 1875 Gotha Program, setting forth his analysis of the transition from capitalism to communism and introducing the famous maxim, "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs."
