Allan Benson was an American newspaper editor and author known for his outspoken anti-war views. For a time he was on the staff of 'The Appeal to Reason;' and when Eugene Debs opted out of the 1916 presidential race to run for the U.S. House of Representatives, Benson became the Socialist Party of America nominee for President of the United States in 1916.
