Henry von Heiseler (1875–1928) was a German writer, dramatist, and translator, and his son Bernt von Heiseler (1907–1969) edited this posthumous selection encompassing poetry, drama, prose, diaries, and essays. The Neue Deutsche Biographie specifically describes Heiseler translations as a major part of his achievement and calls him an important literary mediator between East and West.
