Dalarna is a landskap (historical province) in central Sweden. The area is a holiday destination for Swedes from the south, who often travel there in the summer, drawn by its fishing lakes, campgrounds, and forests. An extensively illustrated English-language survey of Dalarna by the distinguished Swedish art historian Gerda Boëthius, documenting the region's landscape, architecture, people, customs, folk traditions and cultural history. Illustrated with numerous photographic and other black-and-white plates and three finely reproduced color plates after paintings by Anders Zorn: Valkulla, Julotta i Mora kyrka (Matins in Mora Church on Christmas Day), and Mora Marknad (Mora Market). The preliminary matter specifically records that Mrs. Emma Zorn permitted the reproduction in color of three of Anders Zorn's masterpieces.
