A report of the transactions of the State Board of Examiners January 8, 1891 to December 24, 1892. Mr. Waite was the Secretary of State in California during the late 1800s. It is recorded that a Mr. E. G. Waite sailed from New York via Panama up the San Joaquin River to reach the gold fields in 1849 - could this be the same gentleman who later became Secretary of State?
